New manufacturing company to bring $125M investment, 500 jobs to Macon
The expansion of a Georgia-based metal fabrication and manufacturing company to Macon-Bibb County will bring at least 500 new jobs to the area, according to state leaders.
Unified Legacy will invest $125 million in a new manufacturing facility on Barnes Ferry Road, just off of Hawkinsville Road, in Macon. Construction is expected to begin in 2026, according to a May 15 news release from Gov. Brian Kemp’s office.
“Georgia’s manufacturing sector continues to grow because companies like Unified Legacy benefit from our strong workforce, infrastructure, and partnership approach,” Kemp said in the release. “We are proud that this Georgia-based company is reinforcing its commitment to the people of this state through this expansion.”
Unified Legacy manufactures products and components for the defense, aerospace, data center and industrial markets. Its existing manufacturing facility, United Defense, has been operating in Byron since 2022, according to the release.
The company plans to hire manufacturing, skilled trades, engineering, logistics, quality control and administrative positions.
United Legacy CEO Eric Williams said the investment in Macon reflects the company’s confidence in the region and workforce, while the new facility will support larger and more complex projects as demand grows in Middle Georgia.
“This expansion is about creating real opportunities for people. We are excited to add 500 jobs across skilled trades, engineering, and support roles, and to invest in developing a strong, capable workforce,” Williams said in the statement. “Our goal is to create careers that people are proud of and build a team that continues to raise the standard for what we do.”
Macon-Bibb Mayor Lester Miller also said the opportunity will help more families sustain career chances and “better lives.”
“Economic development and workforce development are two of our community’s top priorities moving forward, which is why we work to support the success and growth of existing industries,” Miller said.
