Godsey elected chairman of the Peyton Anderson Foundation board
The Peyton Anderson Foundation’s board of trustees has elected R. Kirby Godsey, the chancellor of Mercer University, as its new chairman. Ed S. Sell III, who has served as chairman since 2009, will remain active on the board and has been named chairman emeritus.
Godsey has served on the foundation’s board for six years.
Attorney Daniel honored for service
The Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys announced that Tomieka Daniel, a Macon attorney and Mercer University graduate, will receive the Bensonetta Tipton Lane Award for commitment to the family. The Founders Awards were established in 2006 to recognize the accomplishments of women and organizations that embody the mission of GABWA and the legacy of its founders.
Daniel is a supervising attorney in the Macon office of the Georgia Legal Services program. She has been working for GLSP since 2002 and primarily handles family law, housing, elder law and family violence cases for low-income Georgians.
Macon attorneys honored by State Bar of Georgia
Jana J. Edmondson-Cooper of the Georgia Legal Services Program in Macon received the Award of Achievement for outstanding service to the bar, presented by the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia, on June 19 during the organization’s annual meeting.
Another Macon attorney, Stephanie D. Powell, was honored with a Friend of the YLD Award.
The YLD is made up of about 10,000 lawyers admitted to the State Bar of Georgia who are 36 years old or younger.
Walters receives award for achievement
Jimmy Walters of the financial services firm Edward Jones in Macon recently won the firm’s Ted Jones Entrepreneurial Award for his achievement in building client relationships.
Edward Jones, a Fortune 500 company, provides financial services for investors.
Realtor ranked by Wall Street Journal
The Wall Street Journal and Real Trends released its 10th annual “The Thousand” list of the top real estate agents and teams.
Blair Myers of EXIT Success Realty in Warner Robins was ranked No. 6 for units sold, among more than 1.1 million licensed real estate agents in the United States. This is his highest ranking to date, having earned the No. 71 spot last year.
Roberta Health and Rehab receives award
Roberta Health and Rehab, a member of the Mission Health family of health care communities, has been awarded the 2015 Silver Achievement in Quality Award as part of the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living’s Quality Award Program. The silver award marks the second tier in the National Quality Award program and is one step above the Bronze Commitment to Quality Award, which it earned last year.
The award is given to health care centers that have continued to learn and develop effective approaches to improve performance and health care outcomes.
