Macon-based Direct South bought by Wisconsin-based company

Macon-based Direct South Inc., founded in 1960 as Macon Restaurant Supply Co., has been purchased by Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based Boelter Companies Inc.

Direct South had grown into a company serving the food service industry throughout the Southeast, according to a release from Boelter.

“Our two companies’ cultures will blend well together,” Boelter President Eric Boelter said in the release. “This acquisition not only expands Boelter’s reach firmly into the Southeast but also extends our capabilities with the government and installation and service.”

Nick Adams, president of Direct South, said in the release the acquisition “will positively impact our employees, manufacturers, manufacturer’s reps, and most importantly, our customers.”

Direct South merged with Citisco Food Service Equipment in 2012.

Boelter Companies is one of the leading food service design and equipment supply dealers in the country. The family-owned and operated business was founded in 1929, and it has offices in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, California and Maryland.
