Store specializing in pools, hot tubs to open in Macon

Columbus-based Leisure Lifestyles, which specializes in above-ground pools and hot tubs, is planning to open a store in Macon.

The store is moving into the former Edwin Watts Golf space at 2954 Riverside Drive, said Jason Stewart, operations director of the business.

“We specialize in above-ground pools, hot tubs and a little bit in pool tables,” Stewart said. “We also are full service, so we do pump repair and replacement ... and we do full pool cleaning. We offer full spa service, and that’s going to be huge for your area.”

The golf store closed in January 2014. Sportz Quest gymnastics will remain in one end of the building, he said. Only minor modifications had to be made to the 5,000-square-foot store, he said.

“The goal is to open by March 15,” Stewart said. “When we start off, we only will employ about five people. ... The goal in Macon is to get that location to where we will have 15 or 20 employees.”

The company is still looking to fill management positions with previous sales experience. It is “always looking for anyone with pool or spa knowledge, but it’s not required,” he said. Leisure Lifestyles has been looking to move to Macon for a long time, he said. The company has been in business for 22 years, but it went through new ownership a year ago.

“Other locations are in the pipeline, but for now Macon is the only other one than in Columbus,” Stewart said. “We are coming into Macon to make it a home. We would like Macon to be a flagship store for us going forward.”
