Marco’s Pizza plans to open six more restaurants in midstate

Marco’s Pizza is making a major push in Middle Georgia with plans to open six more restaurants by summer. Three will be in Macon and one each in Byron, Perry and Milledgeville.

Combined the stores would employ about 200 people.

“Anytime you come to an area, you definitely want to make a name for yourself,” said Shawn Skrip, director of operations for the pizza chain. “You want people to know who you are. Once we start a development, we want to build the stores very close together at around the same time and really build the awareness of Marco’s in the area.”

The existing Warner Robins location at 4993 Russell Parkway “does very well,” Skrip said.

“In fact it’s one of the best locations in all of Marco’s, and the Bonaire location right down the street (at 405 Ga. 96) does very well also,” he said.

All stores will open to the public 4-7 p.m. the day before the official grand opening with what is called a friends and family event that will feature vendors, a bounce house for kids and free food, he said.

During each grand opening, “the first 100 customers who spend at least $10 will get free pizza for a year, which is 12 large two-topping pizzas,” Skrip said.

The new locations and expected grand opening dates are:

2910 Heritage Place, Milledgeville, Feb. 28;

273 Perry Parkway, Perry, March 4;

6394 Zebulon Road, Macon, March 7;

3694 Mercer University Drive, Macon, end of March or early April;

315 Ga. 49, Byron, beginning of April; and

2910 Riverside Drive, Macon, May or June.

All the new restaurants will be in existing buildings, Skrip said.

The Perry store is one of the smallest locations with about 25 seats, and Byron will have about 40 seats, he said. The remaining restaurants are all full dining and will seat at least 60 people. The Zebulon Road location will have a game room for parties.

The smaller restaurants are expected to employ about 26 people each while the larger ones will have close to 35 each. Anyone interested in working at Marco’s Pizza may apply at www.snagajob.com.

Skrip said his KLMG LLC franchise covers the Atlanta and south Georgia territories, which include Middle Georgia. The franchise has 54 locations in its territories, he said. Toledo, Ohio-based Marco’s Pizza has about 600 locations nationwide.
