Pier 1 Imports to open at River Crossing; close existing Macon store

Pier 1 Imports, which has been in Macon for more than 25 years, is moving across town.

The Texas-based company has signed a lease agreement to open a new store in The Shoppes at River Crossing at 5080 Riverside Drive in north Bibb County, said Chrissy Madison, media relations specialist. It is expected to open in summer 2015.

“We will close our store at 2101 Eisenhower Parkway prior to the new store opening,” Madison said. “Plans are subject to change. More information will be available in the coming months, as we get closer to the store opening date.”

Pier 1 will be joining PetSmart which announced last week it was opening a new store also at River Crossing. However, PetSmart’s grand opening marketing manager said the pet supply chain is not closing the existing store at this time.
