More Red Lobster restaurants are set to close. One of the latest is close to Macon

The closures haven’t stopped yet for a restaurant which was once the largest seafood restaurant chain in the world.

Red Lobster is closing more locations and one is in central Georgia: the location on Tara Boulevard in Jonesboro, just north of Macon, is shutting down, according to CNN.

The central Georgia location will be the fourth to close its doors in the state in the past year. USA Today reported the closure of the Dublin, Roswell, and Athens locations in May.

A recent court filing shows the company is rejecting the leases of an additional 23 locations by Sunday, joining the more than 100 restaurants that Red Lobster closed earlier this summer.

Once those locations close, the chain will have around 500 outlets left — a sharp decline from the 650 it had just last year, according to CNN.

There are currently Red Lobster locations on Riverside Drive in Macon and Sam Nunn Boulevard in Perry.

The Jonesboro location will permanently close Sunday.
