European-style bistro in Macon is closing its doors this week after 2 years in business

A bistro located in downtown Macon is closing its doors, the owners announced on social media Monday.

Pearl Passionate Cuisine & Cocktails owners announced Ashley and Tony Doolin announced via social media on Monday the business was permanently closing.

“Since I was a 4 year old child, I have dreamt of owning a restaurant. For the past two years, that dream has come true. I’ve fed so many amazing people. Guests who have become more than guests, they’re now my friends,” Doolin said in the post. “You’ve allowed me to stretch my creativity across the plates at Pearl. I’m so happy that my Daddy got to come and eat and see my dream as a reality. Thank you, Middle Georgia, for allowing me that.”

The restaurant opened in June 2022 and offers a wide variety of flavors from the Caribbean, Italy, France, Cuba and more.

From oyster shells in the flower bed and in hanging light fixtures, to vintage posters from Florida, Southern California and Havana, to collectible old-style cameras, the vibe of the restaurant is that of a seaside vacation retreat.

In the post, Doolin said she learned so much from the business. She learned good and bad things, how to pivot, and how to bow out gracefully. She also mentioned the couple’s plans to expand their other business.

“After many sleepless nights and planning for future expansion of Monkey’s Paw locations, we have made the decision to let Pearl go,” she stated.

She said her employees at Pearl Passionate Cuisine & Cocktails will have employment opportunities at the Monkey’s Paw, which she also owns.

This week is the last week of operation with the restaurant closing its doors on June 23.

“Come in and grab your favorite cocktail and dish and say goodbye,” Doolin said in the post. “Keep an eye on our social media feed for pending announcements. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for all of your love, loyalty, and support.”
