After closing for a year, this popular coffee shop opens its doors in downtown Macon

A popular coffee shop in downtown Macon opened its doors Tuesday after a year hiatus.

Taste & See Coffee Shop and Gallery announced Monday on Facebook that it would officially open its doors at 7 a.m. Tuesday. The first announcement of the grand opening was made Wednesday, Nov. 1, exactly a year after the restaurant closed its doors.

“We are so excited to announce that we will officially be open Tuesday November 7th!!! We can’t wait to see each of you,” read the post on Wednesday.

The coffee shop held a soft opening Saturday and has been active on social media relaying to customers the status of their opening process, such as trying out new coffees with beans that are roasted in house and details about their homemade syrups.

When the coffee shop announced its closing Oct. 28, 2022, the announcement referenced staffing shortages as the reason behind the closure.

“The coffee shop has been a part of our lives for over nine years, and we are thankful for all of our loyal customers, your business and words of encouragement. We hope and pray that the Lord is not done with this business/ministry in downtown Macon,” read the post.

The coffee shop announced its reopening the same day its neighbor, Sweet Eleanor’s Divine Desserts, announced on Facebook that it was open. The dessert shop, located two doors down from Taste & See, will have its ribbon cutting celebration Friday at 2 p.m.

“We’re open and serving up some hot coffee and divine desserts. Come on in! We’d love to serve you,” read Sweet Eleanor’s opening post.
