Fruity teas, protein smoothies and free WiFi featured at new nutrition shop in Macon, GA
Tucked away in the back corner of the Rivoli Crossing shopping center, a nutrition shop has just opened, serving fruity teas and protein-filled smoothies and other healthy alternatives.
Blossom Nutrition, at 4357 Forsyth Road, opened its doors officially Wednesday. Its owner, Brittany Dozier, said the grand opening was the best day they have had since their soft opening Oct. 10.
“People seemed really excited. People that didn’t know about it seemed super excited,” she said.
The shop, named after Macon’s cherry blossoms, is open 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. It offers a variety of loaded teas and smoothies, as well as specialty items such as protein waffles and healthy cake pops. The shop also provides WiFi.
“We have a lot of fast food and a lot of coffee shops, but we don’t have a lot of health related places where people can have a healthier option,” Dozier said.
The teas are made with Stevia sweeteners while the smoothies have low sugar contents. All of the toppings they use are sugar free.
Blossom Nutrition is nestled between The Fresh Market and Orangetheory Fitness on Forsyth Road, which is one of the reasons Dozier chose the location.
“When I was looking for a place for it, this just felt like the perfect spot because we have a lot of health related things in this little shopping center,” she said.
Blossom Nutrition is Dozier’s first venture with a storefront, and many of her employees are students working their first jobs, which is why Dozier started with a soft opening. She didn’t want to be unprepared or make a bad first impression.
“I wanted my team to have time to get everything down before we were bombarded so that they weren’t serving things that people were not pleased with,” she said.
Dozier, who has three children in school, decided to open the store because she wanted to give people, especially kids, another place to hang out.
“I just wanted to offer another space that they can hang out and come get their drink after school,” she said. “I want them to feel like we know who they are when they come in the door.”
After just over a week of being open, Dozier said they already have regulars that come in nearly everyday.
“I want them to be able to come in and get their pick me up and get a warm greeting and just feel welcome and relaxed and want to come back,” she said.
As a member of the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce, Dozier said they will eventually have a ribbon cutting with the chamber, but she hasn’t scheduled it yet.
“Macon’s a large area, and they don’t know that we’re here, and there’s so many people that we can serve,” she said. “I just think that we can find something for everyone... We would love for everyone to come in at least once and give it a chance because I think they would enjoy it.”
