A first for Middle Georgia, this new coffee shop franchise to open soon in west Macon

A first for Middle Georgia, a Red Owl Coffee Company is going up in west Macon.

The franchise coffee shop at 5586 Thomaston Road will have both a cafe and a drive-thru, according to Josh Wells, director of marketing at Red Owl Coffee Company.

The coffee shop is shooting to open sometime in August, Wells said.

Known for its in-house roasted coffee beans, Red Owl Coffee Company offers daily brews, espresso and frappe blends, signature coffee drinks called “Red Owl Customs,” teas, smoothies, milkshakes, hot coco, steamers and energy drinks.

Food choices include bagels, sandwiches, a power bowl and muffins, according to the menu.

Red Owl Coffee Company opened its first location in Valdosta in 2016, expanding into other areas of south Georgia,Tennessee and North Florida since then, Wells said.

In 2022, the company moved its headquarters to Chattanooga, Tennessee, to be in a more central location for its franchise growth, he said.

Red Owl Coffee Company currently has seven stores, including two that are corporate owned. The Macon location is among five franchise stores opening this year, Wells said.
