Known for freshly-sliced, high quality meats, this specialty market opens a Macon shop

In the works for more than a 1-½ years, a specialty market known for freshly sliced, high-quality meats, a wide assortment of complimentary food and top-notch catering is now open in Macon.

The Butcher Shop at 4420 Forsyth Road, Suite 125, in the Vineville Crossing Shopping Center is the second location for Amy and David Dean.

The new market is a duplication of their popular Warner Robins shop with the offerings essentially the same.

‘A one-stop shop’

The Butcher Shop offers certified Angus beef, Cheshire pork, fresh chicken, fresh and frozen vegetables, ready-for-the-grill and other fresh sides and locally sourced specialty food items.

“We try to be a one-stop shop,” David Dean said. “Come and get your protein and sides.”

For example, a customer can stop in and pick up filet mignon, bacon-wrapped asparagus and stuffed portobello mushrooms — all ready for the grill.

The shop also offers hand-patted specialty burgers, including The Fromm burger named after former University of Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm, whose hometown is Warner Robins. The half-pound burger is a mixture of their fresh ground beef and Fromm’s favorites of bacon, mushroom and Swiss cheese.

The store also sells more exotic meats, including lamb, veal, quail and duck. All their sausage, jerky and pork skins are made in-house. They also offer local rubs, including Lane’s Signature and Double Dirt BBQ Seasoning.

Their catering services are now based in Warner Robins. But Dean said they’re considering opening a commissary in Macon that would serve as a home base for the catering side of the business for both Macon and Warner Robins They have separate catering and retail crews.

From signing the lease in June 2021 to the soft opening Feb. 9, the new Macon market has been one year and eight months in the making.

“We’re just happy to be here,” Dean said.
