Seven new businesses open in Macon, Warner Robins area. Think restaurants, retail, cigars

Looking for new places to dine with international flavors? What about a new trendy retail store where most everything is under $5?

Or how about trying a new chief-driven breakfast spot? Or a fine cigar in a relaxing setting?

Interested? Then, check out these seven new businesses — plus one “coming soon” — in Macon, Warner Robins and Centerville:

Roots 76 Cuisine — This new drive-thru breakfast spot operating out of a small white building at 1807 “B” Watson Blvd. in Warner Robins is now open from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday. Created by two chefs, Root 76 Cuisine offers chorizo and beef brisket wraps, a Filipino breakfast bowl and even a doughnut sandwich along with baked goods like muffins and cinnamon rolls. Roots 76 Cuisine also has a food truck, which is expected to open for lunch on site in March. The food truck is also used for food truck events and for catering.

KJK Jamaican Kitchen — The sign is up for this new restaurant opening soon in the former space for Southern Vegan Soul Cafe at 3348 Vineville Ave. in Macon. The restaurant’s Facebook page is the same as for the former Kirk’s Jerk Kitchen in Milledgeville. KJK Jamaican Kitchen recently posted on Facebook: “Brand refresh with a new location in Macon coming soon! Stay tuned!” Its Facebook about info reads: “Authentic Jamaican cuisine. Owned and operated by a Jamaican family.”

Popshelf — This retail store that bills itself to offer most items at $5 or less opened just before New Year’s in The Shoppes at River Crossing in the former Pier 1 space in Macon. The store at 5080 Riverside Drive offers “a fun, on-trend selection of seasonal, houseware, home decor, health and beauty products, home cleaning supplies and paper products and party goods in addition to candy and snacks, toys, games and electronics, among other items,” according to a news release posted on its website. The store is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Churchills on Cherry — This new upscale cigar lounge in downtown Macon offers fine cigars, top-shelf liquors, chef-driven dishes and a relaxing ambiance. Owned by a father and son team, the cigar lounge at 557 Cherry St. is on the second floor above Cherry Street Hookah. The large venue includes comfortable seating, a full-service bar and kitchen, a back patio and a humidor. The new spot initially will be open at night from 6 to 10 Thursday and from 6 to midnight Friday and Saturday.

Tenmii Japanese Eatery — This new fast-casual restaurant in north Macon offers authentic Japanese cuisine from a Warner Robins couple originally from Indonesia. Some of the dishes include Japanese Kare, Chicken Donburi, Chizu Cheese and Soba Noodle Salad. Their signature dish is the Tenmii Pork Chashu Bowl. The pork for the Tenmii Pork Chashu Bowl is slow braised for 36 hours in shoyu, Japanese-style soy sauce, according to the menu. The restaurant at 1625 Bass Road, Suite 330, is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

K-Daak — This new Macon restaurant offers Korean-style chicken, hibachi, wings and tenders. Billed to be super crispy, juicy and tender, Korean-style chicken is first marinated, then hand battered, fried and tossed in a signature sauce if desired. The new spot at 3960 Northside Drive is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Mavis Tire & Brakes — This national tire and service provider recently opened another Middle Georgia store. The new location is on an outparcel at the Publix at Gunn Battle shopping center 6015 Watson Blvd. near the intersection of Watson Boulevard and U.S. 41. The new tire and service store is within the city limits of Warner Robins but has a Byron mailing address. Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Crunch Fitness — This fitness chain opened a Warner Robins location in mid-December at 2930 Watson Blvd. in the former Sears space at the Houston County Galleria in Centerville. The $5 million, 40,000-square-foot facility boasts $1 million in state-of-the-art equipment, according to a news release. Check out its website for more information.
