The owners of an upscale lounge in downtown Macon geared to offer business professionals a place to relax and unwind after work announced its closure on social media.

“For the past 3 years, A Brooke Haven Lounge has been honored to have been a part of the downtown business community where we’ve established some great business and personal relationships in downtown Macon that will last forever,” the owners recently posted on Facebook.

“It has been our pleasure providing a place downtown where our patrons could enjoy everything from live music, tapas entrees, networking, cigars, and one of our signature cocktails. At this time our family has decided to pursue some other opportunities and we will be closing. We wish our patrons (family,) and all of the businesses downtown nothing but much success!”

The lounge at 401 Cherry St., Suite 101, is owned by Darrin and Lessette Ford, along with their daughter, Alicia. The family was not reached for comment. The number for the business is out of service.

The announcement brought well wishes from many patrons who also hated to see the gathering spot close.

“Wow, This is a total shock,” Teisha Clover posted. “I loved the atmosphere in your establishment.”

Roderic Duncan posted, “Thank you for the great atmosphere and entertainment option you provided. Best of luck in all future endeavors!”

The lounge opened in February 2020.

The Fords participated in 2019 in the Downtown Diversity Initiative, a program hosted by NewTown Macon in partnership with the Macon-Middle Georgia Black Pages.

The ever-changing landscape of downtown Macon has included the loss of other restaurants and business over the past 12 months, while new establishments have opened their doors in downtown Macon over the same time period. Others are in the works.
