New storefront in Macon’s historic Ingleside Village: Bakery sets grand opening date
Adriana Horton’s vision to open a storefront for her successful bakery business is now a reality.
Nestled between Ingleside Village Pizza and The Society Garden in historic Ingleside Village, Oh Honey Baking Co. is expected to hold its grand opening next Friday.
“I’m just so excited,” Horton said. “I’m just so ready to be open.”
Horton said she hopes to have a soft opening next week ahead of the June 10 grand opening but there are a few hurdles to clear first.
“We’re just trying to make sure that everything runs smoothly for our customers,” she said.
Regular hours will kick in with the grand opening. Those hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and then 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
On Sunday, June 12, she plans to offer a private ticketed event for brides to taste her wedding cakes. She plans to advertise that on her transformed website that’s expected to go live soon.
Beginnings
Horton’s bakery business started out as a way to be at home with her then 6-month-old son about five years ago.
Horton founded the Mill Hill Bakers Collective in 2019 as her home based baking business grew. The bakers collective is a nonprofit shared kitchen program for baking businesses that are licensed under the state Department of Agriculture located in the Mill Hill Community Arts Center and operated by the Macon Arts Alliance.
Her new storefront is located at 2391 Ingleside Ave.
If all works out for a soft opening, which will have limited hours, Horton expects to offer donuts, cookies, muffins, Italian macaroons, charcuterie boards and cold cut sandwiches.
Once fully open, she’ll offer her cakes, cup cakes and a host of baked goods.
“You’ll be able to come in and purchase an already decorated cake that is like more of a modern aesthetic than what you would find in a grocery store,” Horton said in an earlier Telegraph interview. “We’ll have doughnuts and muffins and scones and cupcakes and brownies — all the different things that you think of.
“But really, I try to focus on recipes that are like Southern Living — stuff that your grandma would make in the best way. Then we’ll have coffee and we’ll have things like a honey bee latte, which will be a honey, vanilla, cinnamon syrup.”
