Can shoppers bring dogs to a Macon Walmart and drop them off at ‘day care?’ That’s a yes.

A new doggy day care in the Walmart on Harrison Road in Macon is now open for business — belly rubs and all.

Best Friends Doggy Daycare provides a safe place for your canine to play while you grocery shop. For more treats, of course.

“I feel like this center gives the community another option for pet care that they may not have been aware of before. Many people are surprised to hear that doggy day care is a real thing. With all the growth Macon is seeing, having options for pet care is a huge concern for a lot of travelers,” said Elizabeth Worthy, owner of Best Friends Doggy Daycare.

Best Friends is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily and has a variety of puppy packages, including the “Shop N’Play” for $14, a single full day for $35 or a five-day package for $165.

There are a few requirements before drop off. Each dog must be spayed/neutered and have their updated rabies and Bordetella vaccinations. Then, each pup will have a 10-15 minute meet and greet.

The meet and greet process ensures that your dog is comfortable with the company of the certified counselors and other pups. Once the period is completed and deemed safe for all, your pup can enjoy plenty of licks, barks, treats and play time.

“I am a dog owner and understand how important it is to have a safe place to bring your pets and I’m honored that we get to be that place for Macon,” said Worthy.

The Doggy Daycare even offers Puppy Pawtys to pups with birthdays or special occasions to celebrate.
