There’s no doubt that Macon Beer Company has some of the best brews in town, but what about desserts?
No fear, Funnel Cake Fries are here. According to their website, Funnel Cake Fries are “a fair favorite, with a twist.” These fries are topped with “powder sugar, whipped cream and fruity pebbles.” Nostalgic to the max, this dessert is sure to satisfy adults and kids everywhere.
Macon Beer Company also mixes up some sweet concoctions. Their colorful Candy Cocktails are an alcoholic slushie topped with delicious hard candy and other yummy toppings; try one or try all four when you order a Candy Cocktail flight. Macon Beer Company also creates a Candy Cocktail of the Week.
Next up, Winner of the “Best Bakery” in the Best of the Best 2021, Tommy’s Bakery offers some of the sweetest, most delectable bakery and breakfast items in town. Regulars rave over the Maple Bacon Donut, a fresh glazed donut with sweet and salty maple bacon crumbled on top.
Another fan favorite on the menu: sausage bites, a small glazed donut with a savory sausage center.
Other favorites include the Gummy Bear Donut, a kids’ sweet dream, and the Peach Fritter, a must-try in the peach state.
Tommy Sadler of Tommy’s Bakery says he is “always thinking of new ideas,” and can make just about anything, even if someone walks in and wants a custom donut made just for them.
“I’ve got more toppings than I can count and display,” he said. “I have nine or 10 different types of cakes and several different types of icing, so I’m always happy to make something someone wants. Just name it.”
If you’re interested in a wonderfully modern take on old-fashioned sundaes, Schultze’s Old Fashioned Soda Shop in Perry is the place for you.
On their regular menu, there are several floats, sundaes and sodas to choose from, but Schultze’s is known for their special sundae ideas. Take for example the Seuss Sandae, which was created “in honor of Read Across America week,” according to Shultze’s Facebook page. The Seuss Sundae is Superman ice cream and rainbow sherbet, topped with marshmallow cereal, Swedish fish, frosted animal cookies, a Zebra Cake, Twizzlers and cotton candy.
If that doesn’t get your heart racing, this next super special sundae will.
The Peaches to Beaches Sundae, in honor of the longest yard sale across Georgia, is made with “peach ice cream on top of a mini peach pie, topped with strawberry topping, peach rings, a lemon Oreo, whipped cream and a strawberry shortcake ice cream bar,” the shop’s Facebook page says.
