A $200-million expansion at the Frito-Lay factory in Houston County will bring 120 new jobs to the snack-making facility, officials announced in a news release Wednesday.

A statement about the development said the company will “add a manufacturing line producing ... tortilla chip products,” another line that makes Baked Cheetos Puffs and build additional warehouse space at the company’s plant along Ga. 247 on the south side of Kathleen.

According to the news release that was sent to media outlets from Gov. Brian Kemp’s office, Houston County officials lauded the company’s “continued investment” in the area.

A senior Frito-Lay official quoted in the news release mentioned how for three-plus decades the company’s plant there — its largest manufacturing site in the U.S., which employs more than 1,000 people — has been “a key contributor to the Georgia economy.”

The statement did not mention when the jobs will become available. The company has announced several expansions over the years to the facility.
