Pier 1 Imports to close half its stores across the US. What about the Macon location?
Pier 1 Imports in north Macon, a furniture and home decor store that’s part of a national chain, is closing.
The store at The Shoppes at River Crossing, is part of the chain’s recent announcement to close roughly half its 450 stores.
Pier 1 Imports, a Fort Worth, Texas-based home good retailer, announced earlier this month that it would be closing hundreds of stores, but it has not released an official list of those locations. However, the manager at the store in north Macon told The Telegraph they were notified about the closure last Tuesday.
Signs posted in the window say the store is having a liquidation sale, and all sales are final.
A manager at the store said she doesn’t know the date of closure as of now. The liquidator will decide details about the sales before the store officially closes, she said.
Employees will have to find new jobs after the closure, said the manager, who asked that her name not be used.
Pier 1 Imports on Watson Boulevard in Warner Robins will remain open, said Katie Evans, a manager who works at that location.
Pier 1 Imports announced earlier this month that it would be closing 450 stores which is roughly half its locations, according to Business Insider.
Business Insider published a list of stores that have been deleted off of Pier 1 Imports’ website, and the Macon location was included, but Pier 1 has not commented on whether that list is accurate.
