This kid’s hair salon wants to open a location in Macon and 4 other Georgia cities in 2020
A children’s hair salon company wants to open a location in Macon and four other Georgia cities in 2020.
Pigtails & Crewcuts has 64 salons in 22 states and hopes to open 15 more stores next year. The company also is looking for potential franchise owners in Macon, Athens, Augusta, Johns Creek and Cumming, Georgia, according to a news release.
Michelle Holliman, vice president of franchise development, said Macon was chosen because of its proximity to their headquarters in Atlanta, the demographics and the success other salons have had in similar markets.
“We definitely want to grow and expand in the Macon area because we do think it would be a great market,” she said.
Each salon has car-themed chairs for young children, age-appropriate movies playing at each styling station, bright colored walls, a train table and loveseats for parents, Holliman said.
The salons have trained stylists who work to make the experience memorable, and they offer first haircut packages that include a photo, a lock of hair and a certificate to remember the experience by, Holliman said.
“Sometimes getting a first haircut can be somewhat traumatic because they don’t know what’s going on,” she said. “We want to make it as fun as possible.”
Children who grow up getting their haircut can still go to the salon despite their age, and parents can get their haircut there as well, Holliman said.
She said the initial investment for a Pigtails & Crewcuts salon is around $98,000 to $230,000 including the $25,000 franchise fee.
