Macon car dealer nominated for TIME Dealer of the Year award

A Middle Georgia car dealership owner has been nominated as the state's 2018 TIME Dealer of the Year award.

The magazine selected George Youmans, owner/president of Youmans Chevrolet in Macon, as one of 47 dealer nominees from across the country who will be honored at the National Automobile Dealers Association's 2018 NADA show in Las Vegas in March.

Youmans, 55, was chosen to represent the Georgia Automobile Dealers Association in the national competition of more than 16,500 dealers nationwide.

The TIME Dealer of the Year award is one of the automobile industry’s most prestigious honors. Recipients are among the nation’s most successful auto dealers, who also demonstrate a long-standing commitment to community service.

A panel will select one finalist from each of the four NADA regions and one national Dealer of the Year.

Youmans is a 1980 graduate of Stratford Academy. The dealership was founded by his grandfather in 1930 as the Bibb Chevrolet Co. During his first two years at the dealership, he worked in every department, and in 2001, he bought the store from his father and was named president. He is the fourth generation to run the business.

Macon adult day care owner is honored

Patricia Duncan, owner of Alice’s Place Adult Day Care in Macon, received the 2017 Leading Age Georgia Distinguished Service Award presented by LeadingAge Georgia.

Duncan was nominated for her service to the older adults in Middle Georgia. She has been a registered nurse for 24 years and a licensed nursing home administrator since 1998. During her years of nursing, she has worked many years in long-term care as a director of nursing and an administrator of a retirement community.

She is involved in the community educating individuals about preventative health and training medication aides who work in personal care homes and assisted living facilities.

LeadingAge Georgia is an organization representing more than 160 housing and service providers.
