Winner of Festive Five contest held at Macon Mall is revealed

A jazz group from Rutland High School won The Festive Five held recently at Macon Mall.

The Rutland High School Jazzicanes earned the most votes and the title of Macon’s Festive Favorite, according to a news release from mall owner Hull Property Group.

The five-night event featured choirs, musicians, dance groups and others spreading holiday cheer through live performances. Throughout the week the community could vote for their favorite holiday performance.

Rutland High School Jazzicanes, taught by Sara Elliott, is a jazz group consisting of 12 students from Rutland. As the winner of The Festive Five, the Rutland High School Jazzicanes will receive The Festive Favorite award and be featured on the holiday mural located in the mall.

“We want to thank all of the acts who participated and made The Festive Five a success,” said Coles Doyle, Marketing Director for Hull Property Group. “Our community is full of talented individuals and groups who came together to kick off the holiday season. ...We look forward to continuing and growing this event year after year.”

Other groups who performed during the five nights included: Cirrus Academy Holiday Carolers, the Mercer Bearitones, The Beulahland Bible Church and Sweet Georgia Sound.

The Festive Five was hosted by the Macon Mall at no cost to participating performers.
