Construction of car rental business in Macon to be completed by early 2018
A building under construction on Riverside Drive should be ready for Enterprise Auto Rental by early next year.
Enterprise received zoning approval in September last year for the 2,500-square-foot building to be built at 2480 Riverside Drive. Currently the business is about a mile down the road at 2135 Riverside Drive.
Jim Davis, representing the company at the Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission meeting, said during the meeting that the company had outgrown its existing location. The new building sits on a little more than 3 acres, and the site will have nearly 130 parking spaces.
The new structure includes garage doors to provide access to a car-washing facility.
The business should be open by “maybe February,” depending on the weather, Davis said. A lot of rainy weather when site work needed to be done delayed the project.
Enterprise expects to employ six full-time and three part-time workers. It is expected to be open 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-noon Saturday.
