Doctor specializing in pediatric patients joins midstate hospital

Dr. Andrew Bozeman has joined Fairview Park Hospital and the newly established practice of Fairview Specialists–Pediatric Surgery.

Bozeman will provide personalized health care for pediatric patients ranging from newborns to teenagers. He is a board-certified surgeon specially trained in pediatric general, thoracic and neonatal surgery. He treats a wide range of conditions including hernias, tumors, cancers and digestive issues.

A Dublin native, Bozeman holds an academic affiliation with the Mercer University School of Medicine, where he is clinic assistant professor of pediatric surgery.

Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful names new commissioners

The Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful Commission has six new commissioners. The new members are: Renee Bumpus with The Bumpi Group; Seth Coker, director of the Department of Community Affairs; Janice Habersham, retired educator, Bibb County schools; Calvetra Purvis with Graphic Packaging; Staci Uselton with YKK; and Gary Wilson with TBW Garden Design and Installation.

The commission is made up of a member-appointed board representing all areas of the city and county. Its mission is to improve the quality of life in the Macon-Bibb community through litter prevention, recycling and beautification.

River Edge announces director of communications

Jamie Dickson has been named the director of communications for River Edge Behavioral Health Center, a provider of mental health, addiction and developmental and intellectual disability services and supports across Middle Georgia.

A 2005 graduate of Mercer University, she previously worked as director of advancement communications at Mercer.

River Edge Behavioral Health services provide state-of-the-art treatment and support services for more than 13,000 children, youths, families and adults annually who experience mental illness, addiction, co-occurring disorders or developmental disabilities. River Edge services will expand to Fulton County in 2018.

Longtime library worker retires

After nearly 35 years of service at Middle Georgia Regional Library, Robin Hudgins, head of reference at Washington Memorial Library, retired as of Aug. 31.

Hudgins joined the library in 1982 as a reference librarian.

Lauren Mullins is the new head of reference. A native of Perry, Mullins received her master’s in library and information science from Valdosta State University in 2015. She began working in libraries in 2011 as a circulation assistant and joined Middle Georgia Regional Library this year as the business reference librarian at Washington Memorial Library.

The Middle Georgia Regional Library is a regional system covering six counties and is a member of the PINES system.
