Prayer for today (1/31/16)

God of the universe, we hear your gentle voice calling us to service and compassion. We hear the words of Jesus, who calls us to live out the love expressed through his life on earth. And we want to follow Christ's example by: Loving our enemies, caring for the poor, welcoming refugees, making peace, not war, doing justice and loving mercy, caring for all of God's creation.

We seek your forgiveness when we fail in doing these acts of ministry. We ask you to grant us the courage to embrace them. And we ask you to fill our hearts with the desire to do acts of grace in our world. Amen.
