Bought with a price
“But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, so that he might redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.” — Galatians 4:4-5.
I was recently afforded the opportunity to witness a high school drama production of “Les Miserables.” It was an awesome production that featured a cast of high school and middle school students as the singers, actors, orchestra, sound and lighting crew.
While I thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful voices and awesome visual of the period costumes, I was truly blessed by the fact that a high school drama department would perform a stage play based on the subject of redemption.
As a result, it was both entertaining and inspirationally uplifting. I found myself listening to the soundtrack for days after having seen the production.
To witness the forgiving spirit of the Bishop to the character of Jean Valjean allowed those young people to see the forgiving nature of our benevolent God. Furthermore, to watch that same character live a life of redemption was inspiring.
I am blessed to know that my son and others who participated in the production left with a greater understanding of Romans 8:1: Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Therefore, if we have been redeemed, who are we to stand in judgment of our brothers and sisters who have made mistakes?
As the song writer Jesse Dixon wrote in his song, “I Am Redeemed”: “I am redeemed, bought with a price, Jesus has changed my whole life. If anybody asks you, just who I am, tell them I am redeemed. Where there is hate, love now abides, where there was confusion, peace now reigns. I’m a child, child of the King; it’s all because I am redeemed.”
I pray God’s blessing on your life.
