AC Pup promotes steak and ribs fundraiser for Save A Pet

Having a cookout and helping animals are probably my two most favorite things in the whole wide world to do. I really can't think of anything more fun than eating something delectable that has been grilled to perfection and helping rescue animals at the same time.

So mark your calendars for Saturday, May 14, from 5-10 p.m. on North Jackson Street in Forsyth. I'm going to have the chance to help do both, and I'm inviting you to join me. In fact, if you're one of those talented folks who can create magic on a grill, you can even form a cooking team and show off your skills with a steak.

My nonprofit animal group, Central Georgia CARES, has joined with one of our favorite rescue groups, Save a Pet in Forsyth, to help promote this wonderful event. This is an awesome fundraiser that will benefit Save a Pet's brand new shelter that has recently been built at 618 Maynard Church Road in Forsyth.

The folks there have done an incredible job of designing and building an outstanding shelter that will keep rescue animals safe and healthy while they wait for new families. And it's the perfect place for people wanting to adopt a new, furry family member to visit and see the sweet babies hoping to be selected. It's just a great thing for everybody.

The work Save A Pet has done in constructing this impressive building will be an asset to Middle Georgia for years to come. Give them a call to make an appointment to visit the shelter and see for yourself. Who knows? You might just find the furry love of your life there.

CARES and I are so proud to partner with such a fabulous organization, especially to help them with this fundraiser that is sponsored in part by Forsyth Main Street. It will be a blast, and I wouldn't miss it for the world.

Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. and we'll have it rain or shine. We'll also have all kinds of activities in addition to the food. We'll have jamming live music from three different groups, a silent auction with fabulous items you won't want to miss, a cakewalk, a horseshoe toss and door prizes. And we'll have a limited edition of a George Roderigue print of The Blue Dog to auction. That will be quite a treat!

Tickets are $20 for ribeye, $25 for ribs and $30 for steak and ribs. Get your tickets by May 7 to either dine in or take out at the Forsyth Main Street Office, Dodd Builders Supply, Castleberry Drug Co., Persons Banking Co., Trophy Ford or United Bank. Or you may call Pat Corley at 478-994-5223 or 478-993-7085. If you're interested in entering a team in the cook-off, call Martin Presley at 478-955-6564.

You really don't want to miss this fun event that will be held rain or shine. You'll have an evening of fabulous entertainment, great food, wonderful fellowship, and you'll also be helping the animals. It really doesn't get any better than this.
