Georgia residents may get a glimpse of the Amazon rocket tonight.

After a two-week delay due to inclement weather, the United Launch Alliance Atlas V is set to launch from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 28.

The Atlas V flight path will be northeast, over the Atlantic Ocean. But, visibility is expected to extend as far east as Birmingham, Alabama, and as far north as Detroit, Michigan.

The farther east you are, the more you will be able to see. For instance, Savannah will be able to see the rocket within 150 seconds of the launch, where the rocket will still be intact.

Macon will join the viewing party 210 seconds after launch, as the solid rocket boosters separate from the rocket.

About 270 seconds after launch, Columbus will be able to see the rocket.

This visibility map for the Atlas V launch Monday, April 28, shows the flight path will be visible as far east as Birmingham, Alabama, and as far north as Detroit, Michigan.

The launch is part of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ goal to operate 3,232 broadband satellites that will provide a fast internet service.

Known as Project Kuiper, ULA will install the constellation of satellites in phases, using 46 launches. This initial launch will include 27 satellites.
