SAVING CENTSABLY: SportsClips will trim your hair, but not your wallet
When our family lived in McDonough, my husband discovered SportsClips for his haircuts. Although he cuts his own hair from time to time -- and typically he does all our boys’ haircuts -- sometimes he needs a professional who can trim the edges and get it just right again.
For his needs, SportsClips is the place to go! Once or twice while we lived in McDonough he visited a salon -- paying about $30-$35 for a haircut. This is just too much for a man’s haircut!
He stumbled across some SportsClips coupons and decided to try them out. When he got done with his first haircut, he called immediately to tell me about the service he received.
From a steam towel facial to a head massage with a tea tree shampoo to the neck and shoulder massage -- the MVP package is certainly his favorite.
Despite how much he enjoys SportsClips, the truth is that you know our family pretty much refuses to pay full price for almost everything.
So how can he keep up his SportsClips habit without paying full price? And, how can you (or your husband) enjoy SportsClips without paying full price? There are several ways.
First, SportsClips partners with the American Red Cross -- offering coupons (and sometimes completely free haircuts) when their customers donate blood. My husband donates blood regularly, so he has benefited from this partnership.
From the website www.redcrossblood.org/sport-clips, I found information about this program. The website explains that the donor registration process for donating blood or platelets involves providing an email address to the Red Cross. Therefore, unless someone has opted out of communication from SportsClips, that donor should receive information through an email about receiving a free haircut.
Based on my husband’s experience, these coupons for a free haircut can often be delivered through in-person coupons available once the blood donation process is complete. Additionally, if a prospective donor comes to donate blood or platelets but finds themselves unable to complete the process or disqualified based upon recent illness or some other factor, they are not disqualified from receiving a free coupon for a haircut.
The website I mentioned earlier states: “Contact CustomerCare@redcross.org and submit the date of attempted donation with your request in an email with the subject line: SportsClips Coupon. Customer Care will verify your information and a coupon will then be emailed to you.”
One of my husband’s favorite SportsClips features, when it comes to saving money, is the Instant Replay Coupon. When we moved to the Savannah area, he received one from the stylist he used during his first visit.
Essentially, this qualified him for a “dollars-off” savings for the next five haircuts -- he just needed to bring the coupon with him at each visit. Once these coupons were depleted, the stylist provided another “Instant Replay” coupon set. We keep them attached to the side of the refrigerator so that each time a haircut is needed, he knows exactly where the coupons are for saving money.
Another place our family has picked up coupons is at military appreciation events. SportsClips has a great reputation for supporting our military -- and you can often find representatives at festivals and military appreciation days. Many times they’ll have prizes like can koozies, candy, lanyards and -- you guessed it -- free haircut coupons!
If you, your husband or your son is in need of a good haircut, I encourage you to look into SportsClips, register on their website or Facebook page, and start saving money. With four sets of “man-hair” to cut at our house -- I can attest to the savings that are available if the cut-at-home option doesn’t work best for you.
