A nutrition shop offering snacks and smoothies is set to open in downtown Macon.

Owner Cheyenne Bennett said the new shop, called Macon Made Nutrition, will offer smoothies and healthy snacks in a colorful, 1970s-inspired storefront.

Bennett said she became interested in health food after visiting a nutrition store in Milledgeville. She soon became a regular, ditching her sugary morning coffee for fruit smoothies and protein snacks.

“I just changed from drinking sugary drinks every day to drinking something healthier,” Bennett said. “I noticed that downtown Macon didn’t have a store that offered that…so I wanted to offer that.”

Bennett said she previously ran an antique business from home, but Macon Made Nutrition is her first foray into running a brick and mortar location. She found the building off Second Street, which Macon Made Nutrition will call home, in November after about a month of looking.

She and her husband, who restores historic buildings, gave the interior a new look, with pink and orange walls and checkerboard-pattern tile. Bennett plans on filling it with bean bags and cozy seating areas.

Inspired by the store she visited in Milledgeville, Bennett said she wants to make Macon Made Nutrition a place where people can come in a while to study, meet with friends and find community.

“I liked the type of clientele that was in there,” Bennett said. “Every time I went in there, everyone was in a good mood. People go in there not because it’s a must-have, but because it’s a want.”

While the full menu will be unveiled when the store officially opens on Feb. 7, Bennett said Macon Made Nutrition will serve teas, smoothies, shakes and coffee with add-ins including aloe, boba, probiotics, coconut milk and vitamins.

The store will also offer healthy food, including protein waffles and protein balls, which are bite-sized snacks made from protein powder and ingredients like oats, nut butter, chia seeds and honey.

Bennett said she plans on building her menu through her partnership with other stores around Middle Georgia, including the one in Milledgeville that first sparked her interest. The stores swap recipes, ingredients and ideas for new offerings to keep all their menus novel.

“There’s going to be a good variety,” Bennett said.

In addition to curating an inviting interior, Bennett said Macon Made Nutrition will also deliver. Businesses and offices can even place larger orders through an app. Delivery will be available for anywhere in Macon, even outside of downtown.
