Special deals on offer for opening week at this new Macon breakfast restaurant
The smoky smell of bacon, Little Richard in a community-inspired mural, and the sight of sunshine peeking through the windows greets customers as they walk into Macon’s first Flying Biscuit Cafe, on the corner of Mulberry and 2nd streets.
The Macon location, which opened Monday, is the chain’s 40th location. The Atlanta-based restaurant offers dishes that are famous in the Southeast, and customers can expect special deals for the first couple weeks that the new spot is open. That includes the $7 Flying Biscuit meal, which includes a biscuit, two eggs, famous creamy grits, and a choice of meat.
Other menu items include:
- Honey Butter Chicken and Waffles
- Beignet Donuts
- Smoked Salmon Scramble
- Nashville Hot Chicken Wrap
- Hangover Hash
- Egg-Stravaganza
- Southern Comfort Scramble
- Award-Winning Shrimp & Creamy Dreamy Grits
The restaurant is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends. This is the second Flying Biscuit location opened by husband and wife pair Ariel and Jason Esteves, the first of which is located in Columbus. They wanted to be a part of the downtown revitalization efforts by opening a restaurant in Macon, and envision Flying Biscuit to be a vital piece in the coming years to the downtown scene.
“The Flying Biscuit is a key piece of the continued resurgence of downtown Macon and that’s really what we want to see. We want to see the community continue to build and prosper, and we know that the Flying Biscuit will be a piece of that,” said Jason Esteves, who also is a state senator and is running for governor.
For the Esteves family, Flying Biscuit has always been close to their hearts, which is why they originally decided to open one in 2023. From brunch dates to catering their wedding, Flying Biscuit has always been a place both Ariel and Jason Esteves love.
“They say when you want to open a business, open something that you love and for us, when we were thinking about a restaurant to open. We love breakfast, and there’s one breakfast brand that we love and it’s Flying Biscuit,” Jason Esteves said.
Owners ‘serving the community’
Ariel Esteves is also a nurse practitioner. Aside from their two Flying Biscuit locations, they have many other responsibilities. The couple finds opening restaurants to be a different way of serving the community.
“With our restaurants, we serve the community by providing them food. With Ariel’s urgent care, she’s providing them health care and with politics, I’m advocating for policies that advance our climate,” Jason Esteves said.
Flying Biscuit is offering a $10 gift card to each of the first 50 customers to arrive each day during the restaurant’s first two weeks open. Customers can also post about the restaurant on social media to get a $10 gift card.
