Vegetables, fish and rice — oh my! For Macon residents looking for a delicious sushi dinner, the city has plenty of choices. From classic rolls that always satisfy to specialty rolls that combine flavor with flare, the Macon restaurant scene is ready to deliver.

Here are a few of our favorite sushi places from around town:

Sumo Steak & Sushi

Sumo Steak & Sushi off Riverside Drive offers an extensive sushi and hibachi menu. Highlights include their pink lady roll — salmon and avocado wrapped in sticky rice and coated with spicy mayo — and the green river roll, which brings together avocado, crab, shrimp tempura and seaweed and tops it with a savory eel sauce.

Mikata Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar

Mikata is a small chain with locations in Georgia and Alabama. They have an extensive menu of fresh-made sushi with rolls served hot, cold or even deep fried. If sushi isn’t really your thing, they also have steak, seafood and hibachi.

Shogun Japanese Restaurant

If you’re looking for more traditional options, Shogun Japanese Restaurant should be at the top of your list. Shogun offers specialty rolls as well as sushi combos that feature the chef’s choice of sushi. This eatery also offers traditional Japanese fare including beef tataki, ton katsu and bulgoki.

Osaka Hibachi and Sushi

Located off Mercer University Drive, Osaka Hibachi and Sushi is proud to call every meal “a culinary performance,” according to its website. All of the restaurant’s sushi is made fresh and ranges from traditional favorites such as the California roll and spicy tuna roll, to the adventurous with specialty rolls featuring ingredients such as eel, octopus and masago.
