The old saying “one’s company, two’s a crowd and three’s a party” is never more true when it comes to eating out, and Macon is no exception.

With a buzzing restaurant scene, it’s no wonder foodies flock to downtown for a delicious variety of lunch and dinner services — but sometimes what you’re really craving is a meal in peace.

Here’s when you can hit up some Macon favorites if you want dinner without the crowds.

Kudzu Seafood Company

Kudzu Seafood Company owner Lee Clack said the restaurant is at its sleepiest on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Most weekdays are sleepy though, Clack said, and people tend to stay home when it rains.

Oliver’s Corner Bistro

Staff said Oliver’s Corner Bistro doesn’t have particular patterns. What may be a slow day one week ends up busy the following week. Your best bet is to call before you go and ask staff about how crowded the restaurant is.

The Rookery

The Rookery, which serves pub fare with a Southern twist, is an ideal place for a Monday or Tuesday meal if you’re looking to avoid crowds, employees said. Most days between 2 and 4 p.m. are also slower times as well.

Ocmulgee Brewpub

If you’re looking for craft beer, comfort food and plenty of space, Ocmulgee Brewpub is an ideal spot for a late lunch. The eatery said it’s the least crowded during the middle of the week, with the best time to avoid crowds being Wednesday in the mid-afternoons.

Parish on Cherry Street

Parish on Cherry Street employees said they usually see a lunch rush and crowds on weekends, but have plenty of space for weeknight dinners and in the afternoons following lunch. However, sometimes events can bring lots of people at odd times, employees said.

The Brick

According to The Brick, the best days to avoid dinner crowds at the popular Macon pizzeria are Sunday and Monday nights. Other days, the least crowded time is between 2 and 4 p.m., management said.

Loom Comfort Kitchen & Cocktails

Staff at Loom Comfort Kitchen & Cocktails in Hotel Forty Five said when they are busy largely depends on what’s going on downtown or at the Macon City Auditorium next door. They are typically sleepier when there aren’t festivals or performances going on.

Kinjo Kitchen + Cocktails

Kinjo Kitchen + Cocktails requires reservations to dine, with staff saying Mondays and Wednesdays seeing the fewest bookings. Reservations also tend to be light between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. on weekdays.
