The Rookery
For the past several years, The Rookery in Macon has cooked up a Thanksgiving-style burger. This year is quite the feast between two buns: a turkey burger topped with a scoop of homemade dressing, smothered in rich brown gravy and finished with a dollop of tangy cranberry sauce.
“It’s the best of Thanksgiving in every bite — no leftovers required,” the restaurant says on Facebook.
But The Rookery didn’t stop there. For those looking for dessert to top off the meal, here’s what to order:
- Cinnamon Roll Cheesecake: Unrolled cinnamon rolls folded into the batter, saigon cinnamon and cream cheese vanilla icing.
- Pumpkin Pie Milkshake: Fresh pumpkin puree, maple syrup, vanilla ice cream, cinnamon and nutmeg.
The Rookery is located at 543 Cherry St. in Macon.
The Back Burner Restaurant
The chef at Back Burner will be serving a Thanksgiving-inspired November special:
White Marble Farms bone-in pork chops, Georgia pecan-encrusted with an Elijah Craig bourbon glaze, served with oven roasted sweet potatoes and sautéed lemon garlic asparagus.
The Back Burner Restaurant is located at 2242 Ingleside Ave. in Macon.
Her Majesty Kitchen
If you’re willing to travel a little out of Macon to grab some Thanksgiving grub, try Her Majesty Kitchen in Forsyth this season.
To start off, try one of Her Majesty’s fall cocktails like the Cinderella Pumpkin Spice Martini.
Then go for a turkey wing stuffed with cornbread dressing and topped with gravy. Or maybe you’d like to order some jerk chicken with a sweet potato waffle.
If you want something light, there are also lots of choices. Try the fall harvest salad or some parmesan butternut squash with crispy brussel sprouts.
Her Majesty Kitchen is located at 94 E. Adams St. in Forsyth.
Roly Poly of Macon
Roly Poly of Macon, located at 624 New St., has a sweet treat for customers this month. It’s an Apple Caramel Crisp cookie.
“Top quality butter based dough is loaded with sweet dried apples, gooey caramel bits, rolled oats, brown sugar, a hint of cinnamon and natural vanilla flavor,” as stated on the sandwich shop’s website.
Layers
One of the best things about Thanksgiving is always the dessert.
Layers is located at 3001 Vineville Ave. in Macon and is baking some mouth-watering cakes this month. Make sure to save room for the Sweet Potato Honey Bun cake or Pecan Pie Cheesecake.
Or if you are more of a chocolate lover, try their Hot Cocoa Cake made with “delicious and delectable chocolate cake filled with homemade marshmallow fluff and covered in hot cocoa buttercream.”
