Well-known doughnut shop plans new store in Macon. Here’s when it will open.

A worldwide doughnut and coffee shop is opening at a new location in Macon, and the goal is to open four more.

Dunkin’ Donuts at 4450 Forsyth Road plans to open in two to three months, said Navnit Patel, an owner of the QSR Group LLC.

“We think Macon is such a fantastic area,” Patel said.

The QSR Group, a franchisee of Dunkin’ Donuts, announced in August 2017 plans for five Dunkin’ Donuts in Macon after signing store development agreements with Dunkin’ Donuts, according to The Telegraph archives. While QSR has approval to open five stores, the one on Forsyth will be the first.

Two of the stores will include a Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop.

The QSR Group operates the Dunkin’ Donuts in Warner Robins on Russell Parkway.

Dunkin’ Donuts has more than 11,000 stores worldwide and serves more than 3 million people every day, according to its website.

Construction is still in progress on the Macon location, but as long as it goes according to plan, Patel said the store will open by the summer of 2020.

There are already three other Dunkin’ Donuts in Macon not owned by QSR Group.

Patel grew up in Milledgeville and said Macon was basically his backyard.

“We think Macon has a lot of good opportunity, and it’s growing. I love Macon,” he said.
