Macon Best Western worker follows bandit, aids in arrest
A 57-year-old man accused of a stick up at the Best Western Inn on Riverside Drive on Saturday night was arrested at a Macon steak house after a motel employee called 911 and followed him.
Walter Ellison is charged with armed robbery after he allegedly demanded money from one of the motel's clerks at gunpoint about 7 p.m., according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.
Ellison fled in a white Pontiac Montana van and another motel employee followed after him and reportedly called 911 to let the sheriff's office know Ellison's location, the release said.
A Georgia State Patrol trooper was in the area and heard a call on the radio about an armed robbery suspect being in the parking lot of Logan's Roadhouse. The trooper arrested Ellison without incident.
Anyone with information about the crime is urged to call the Bibb County Sheriff's Office at 751-7500 or call the Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68CRIME.
