The Macon Water Authority announced late Sunday evening that it would indefinitely halt residential disconnections for nonpayment in light of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, beginning March 15.

In a release, the MWA said it wants to make sure all of its customers have access to reliable water and sewer service. The authority also reassured customers that their water and sewer services are unaffected by the new coronavirus.

The announcement follows others by Georgia Power and Atlanta Gas Light to temporarily suspend disconnections.
