Rudolph better be the only one traveling with a red nose this season or inebriated drivers could be making a trip to jail.

The Governor's Office of Highway Safety plans a statewide campaign to "remind all motorists that drinking and driving will not only get you on Santa's naughty list, but it will also send you straight to jail," a Coffee County sheriff's news release stated.

From Dec. 15 until Jan. 2, the Coffee County Sheriff's Office and law enforcement agencies across Georgia are teaming with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to catch impaired drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

"While Georgia's impaired driving laws are enforced 24/7/365, the holiday season brings extra emphasis because of the increased number of travelers," the release stated.

The Coffee County Sheriff's Office suggests designating a sober driver and making sure you choose one committed to sobriety during celebrations. It is never OK to drink and drive, even after one beverage, the news release warned.

Friends and loved ones should be prepared to take the keys away from an impaired drivers or arrange rides for them.

The highway safety agency's "Drive Sober, Georgia" smartphone app shares ride programs and taxi services for you to arrange transportation or program numbers into your cellphone ahead of time.

Motorists seeing impaired drivers should call 911 or *GSP from your cellphone.
