Milledgeville store owner beaten in midday stickup

The Milledgeville Police Department is asking for the public's help with identifying a gun-toting bandit who robbed a lottery and clothing store and beat up its owner just before noon Thursday.

Surveillance video shows a man, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, toted a semi-automatic handgun inside M Store Appliances at 921 North Columbia Street about 11:50 a.m., according to a news release from the police department.

When officers arrived, the 62-year-old store owner had been beaten and knocked to the floor. He was taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, for his injuries.

The robber fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
