Unemployment rate in Macon rises again. Here’s what to know.

If you are looking for a job in Macon, you’re not alone.

The Georgia labor commissioner recorded a 3.5% unemployment rate for the month of October in Macon.

This is an increase of .5% during that month. At this time last year, the unemployment rate was 3.7%, according to the Georgia Department of Labor.

There is some good news for job seekers. In October, Macon saw an increase of 300 jobs since September.

And with the holidays approaching, there are several opportunities for work, seasonal or otherwise.

“Job seekers have continued to experience a favorable hiring environment across multiple job sectors, despite a slight uptick in unemployment rates,” said Mark Butler, Georgia’s labor commissioner. “As we prepare for peak holiday hiring, we encourage job seekers to take advantage of the many employment opportunities, both full-time and part-time, available across Georgia.”

If you are a current job seeker, the Employ Georgia website may be your best resource for finding the right fit.

During the month of October, there were more than 3,100 active job postings listed for Macon on the Employ Georgia website.

There are also job postings on Macon-Bibb’s Human Resources website.
