Here’s how to list your house to be featured as a location in a Georgia film production
With Georgia being the hub for film and media that it has been for years, locals tend to flock to the areas where they film to try and get a glimpse of the filming process for their favorite movies and T.V. shows.
What most people don’t know is that listing their homes or properties as film locations can get them involved with and often paid by the production companies for their favorite films and shows.
How to get listed
The best way to go about getting your house listed for a potential film location is through the Georgia film office. They keep records of thousands of properties and provide scouting assistance for the film companies looking to film in the area.
After submitting the adequate photos and information about each property through the valid forms, the houses will each be carefully considered for selection. Guidelines for each house listing must be followed before submitting.
Another method worth mentioning is through the Georgia Locations Database and its mirror site, LocationsHub. As of April 2024, film companies began directly contacting property owners. All properties and the contact information provided by the property submitter will be publicly displayed in the database.
Street addresses for commercial properties will continue to be displayed, but residential addresses will not. Locations can be removed at any time.
Benefits of Listing
Listing your home for filming can also bring in a variety of benefits to the owners, the most obvious being financial compensation. Many film companies will pay home owners from $1,000 to $5,000 per day of filming, but the payout can differ based on the filming company, how long the film process takes and types of films being shot on the property. Listing your house can lead to something as life changing as free improvements to your house or even a full home renovation.
