Stuffed Sticks steal the show at The Brick’s Macon location
The Brick is one of the coolest spaces where you can dine in Macon. In the bottom floor of the new lofts behind the main post office on College Street, The Brick is the first outpost of its flagship restaurant in Milledgeville. Compared to the Milledgeville location, the age skews a little older here — think young professional instead of broke college student — but the vibe is still cool and chic.
We started with appetizers, like the popular Buffalo Chicken Dip and tortilla chips for $7.75. Because of its super cheesiness, it would probably be best for a group of three or four. The fried pickles, served with ranch dip, were nicely sour and plentiful for just $6.25.
The best appetizer by far, though, was the Brick’s Ultimate Stuffed Sticks, six for $11.50. In retrospect, I would order this as my meal and still have plenty for lunch the next day and maybe even dinner, too. These monsters stretch from one side of the plate to the other, bursting with cheese and your choice of pepperoni, Italian sausage, and/or spinach. The spinach ones were a little underdone, but the sausage ones were divine, especially dipped in the accompanying sauce.
By contrast, our pizza was just OK. The toppings — like cheeseburger, gourmet white and all meat — were tasty, but the crust lacked any personality. The Cannibal includes baked chicken, beef, pepperoni, ham, sausage and mozzarella; the Gourmet White has spinach, sun dried tomatoes and ricotta. You can order the pizza by the slice for $4.75, so you can try a few until you hit your favorite.
We also tried a Jerk Chicken Alfredo Pasta for $10.75, which was much more Alfredo than jerk.
My recommendation: come try those stuffed sticks after work and see if you still want dinner. If you do, order different slices until you’re full.
