What Tays’ Wings lacks in ambiance it makes up for with its food

Tays’ Wings is a little hard to find at first, nestled among several other shops in a large plaza on the main drag in Warner Robins, but wing fans will easily find their way back after that first time.

The space itself needs a little work: the air conditioning in the front doesn’t work, boxes fill one of the corners and the decor is minimal, but you don’t come here for the ambiance. The wings and the sauces we tried were excellent, and the sides steal the show.

The wings are large and meaty with little fat and just enough sauce. They make most of their sauces in-house. Our favorites were the hot honey barbecue, the smokey and the lemon ranch, but they also have Tays’ Hot, honey mustard and teriyaki.

Each combo come with two sides. Combo options include four wings and fish, shrimp and fish, or wings and shrimp for $8.99; or the Philly and wings, Philly and shrimp, or wings and “hog wings” for $10.99. Our favorite side items were the delicately battered but punchy fried green tomatoes, the chunky sweet potato tots and crazy-good corn nuggets.

Your fish choices include whiting, catfish or tilapia. We enjoyed the whiting, but the shrimp blew it away. Our Philly expert really enjoyed her meal, and there is a chicken version here as well. Other meats include pork chops and chicken strips.

The family packs are a great deal at $28.99 for 30 wings, two large sides and three sauces, or $42.99 for 50 pieces, two sides and four sauces. They also have combo deals with large boneless wings and wings only.

Our service was very personable and efficient. Both of our servers seemed to love what they serve. Everything is freshly prepared and is a good deal for the money.
