Think you have the best wings in town? Sign up for Macon Black Culture’s competition

Cashman’s Pub took home the Super Spud Trophy last week as the winner of the downtown Macon French Fry Fight.

But for those who want to find the best wings too, Macon Black Culture is seeking to find the restaurant with the tastiest flats and drums.

Macon Black Culture will host its second annual “Who Got The Best Wings?” competition, in which local Black-owned businesses in Middle Georgia can compete for the best wings title, showcase their culinary skills and attract new customers.

The competition will begin on July 29, in observation of National Chicken Wing Day, and run until Aug. 4, according to the organization’s Facebook post.

“This competition is more than just finding the best wings,” said Marshall Talley, co-founder of Macon Black Culture and organizer of the event. “It’s about bringing our community together and encouraging people to explore eateries they might not have discovered otherwise.”

The week-long event also calls on all food enthusiasts and community supporters to step out of their comfort zones and try local establishments that may have flown under their radar due to limited marketing exposure, Talley added.

Current participating restaurants are Vibez Brunch Bar & Grill, Daiquiris & More, Greenwood BBQ, Macon Water Ice, Hen’s Nest, Mother’s Breakfast & BBQ, Midtown Daiquiri Bar & Grill and Niche.

The voting process will take place on Macon Black Culture’s Facebook page, Talley said.

For more information about the competition, participating restaurants and voting procedures, visit the organization’s website or social media page.

Black-owned restaurants in the Middle Georgia area are welcome to compete. Prospective businesses interested in the competition must pay a $30 participation fee that the organization said will go directly to the event’s marketing campaign.

Macon Black Culture’s mission is to instill love, pride, unity and empowerment in the Black community of Middle Georgia. The organization creates events to instill hope and provide resources to underserved communities through partnerships with other non-profit organizations.
