This Mississippi boy is new to Macon and needs your help: What should I eat?

When a Mississippi boy comes to Georgia, the first thing that comes to mind is obvious — where am I going to eat?

I’m Justin Mitchell, and I’ll be a new face at the Macon Telegraph. I work with McClatchy as a regional growth editor for the South, meaning I’ll be spending a lot of time in Middle Georgia.

You’ll occasionally see my bylines pop up on your news feeds, and I’ll be in Macon monthly. I’m excited to explore Middle Georgia. I’ve made plans to attend events at the 2019 Cherry Blossom Festival, and I’m strongly considering renting a pass to check out Macon museums to get know more about the culture of this amazing place.

This is my second trip to Macon in less than a month, and I’m a guy who grew up around Gulf Coast cuisine. I love trying new food and new things. So, it’s obvious that I want to eat my way around Macon.

I had no idea what a meat-and-three was until last week. And that is a sin in Middle Georgia.

So I need your help. Take this unofficial poll and tell me where I should go and what I should eat on the menu. You can also email me at jmitchell@mcclatchy.com.
