Yoder’s offers variety of sandwich options in Perry
If you live in Perry, you already know about Yoder’s Sandwich Shoppe. You know that four family members are waiting for the lunch rush, baskets and lunch bags ready with chips and pickles. They get you in and out and on your way.
If you don’t live in Perry and are looking for a reliably good, cheap, simple and quick lunch, this is your place. Everything we tried was top notch, from the homemade potato salad and pimento cheese to the pound cake and sock-it-to-me cake.
Sandwiches are stacked tall and are all $6.95 with chips and a pickle (drinks are extra). Our club sandwich came piled high with ham, turkey, bacon, Swiss and cheddar and the ham panini consists of Black Oak ham, Swiss cheese, mayo, honey mustard, onions, and bell peppers all hot pressed into a French sub roll.
Our favorite was probably the turkey and Swiss, with cranberry sauce and bacon added for good measure. I had planned to take part of my vegetable panini with green peppers, onions, black olives, pickles, and pepper jack cheese home for later, but it was too delicious to wait.
Other delicious-sounding sandwiches are the Hawaiian ham and cheese on an onion roll, the roast beef French dip, and Philly steak and cheese. The Reuben is one of their top sellers, with corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and thousand island dressing on rye.
They are happy to press your sandwich if you prefer any of them hot with a crunch.
The highlight of the experience was the sock-it-to-me cake, which is something like the offspring of a yellow cake and a snickerdoodle. Imagine a cinnamon roll in cake form, with ribbons of streusel running through it for only $2. Desserts rotate, so just get whatever you see.
As with everything here, you can’t go wrong.
