Stoopgrass

Friday at Fish N’ Pig

Drawing equally from rock, jazz, reggae and Southern funk, Stoopgrass has been entertaining patchouli-sporting revelers and anyone looking for a swinging time with cool tunes for quite some time now. Bring your dancing shoes, sandals or just go barefoot. The patio at the Fish N’ Pig is the perfect way to dance away the troubles of the work week with one of Macon’s favorites, who combines their original tunes with crowd-pleasing covers. 7 p.m.

Dragon Sleeper, Conduit and Doghead

Friday at 5/4 Music Space

Metal bands have the best names. They’re so descriptive, so indicative of what you’re going to be getting yourself into by putting their record on the platter. Dragon Sleeper. Conduit. Doghead. I’m picturing the inside of the 5/4 Music Space being transformed into some combination ofThe Neverending Story” and “Legend,” if only those movies were soundtracked with gained-to-the-max guitars and growling vocals. This isn’t a show, it’s a quest — a quest for more metal! 7 p.m. $5.

98 Degrees, O-Town and Dream

Saturday at the Grand Opera House

Holy ‘90s flashback, Batman! Put those bleach-blonde highlights back in your hair, pull the board shorts out of the back of the drawer, and get ready to party with some of the hottest boy and girl groups of yesteryear, including the one fronted by the guy who co-starred on “Newlyweds” with Jessica Simpson. 98 Degrees, Dream and O-Town are hitting the stage at the Grand Opera House to help soundtrack your nostalgia-laced summer. For a few extra buckaroos, you can even meet 98 Degrees and enjoy a special acoustic performance. If you’ve ever been obsessed with Ryan Seacrest or “Making the Band,” this is one not to miss. 8 p.m. $59.50.

Soulhound with Barrelhouse

Saturday at the Hummingbird Stage and Taproom

Soulhound describe themselves as “the Meters meets Hendrix meets Steely Dan.” It’s not certain if any of those bands ever actually met, but if they did, it surely was a funky, groovy hot mess. Soulhound are purveyors of the groove, diving deep into it and using it as a foundation for musical exploration. They’re joined by Barrelhouse, a blues band made up of eight seasoned players. 9 p.m. $5.

Festie Besties: Bottle Release Party

Wednesday at Macon Brewing

Company

It’s a proven scientific fact that beer makes live music sound better and live music makes beer taste better. It’s been true since the beginning of recorded history, when Herodotus grabbed a sixer of Mythos and went to the rock show at the Parthenon. Analog Existence and Hindsight will be helping to soundtrack the release of two bottled beers by the Macon Beer Company in celebration of the two festivals the drinks were named for: Macon Music for Bragg Jam and Macon Movies for the Macon Film Festival. That means you should be Macon your way down to the brewery for an evening of touring, tasting and live music. 6 p.m. $30-$35.
