Gig Guide

Stoopgrass

Friday at the Hummingbird Stage and Taproom

Drawing equally from rock, jazz, reggae and Southern funk, Stoopgrass has been entertaining patchouli-sporting revelers and anyone looking for a swinging time with cool tunes for quite some time now. Bring your dancing shoes, sandals or just go barefoot. No, scratch that: You’ll want to wear some sort of footwear to this one. Grass is optional and depending on your definition, still illegal, but stoops are still very useful (and legally viable options) for elevating your consciousness and body in a equally efficient fashion. $5. 10:30 p.m.

Dirty Disco

Friday at Fresh Produce Records

This ain’t no party. This ain’t no disco. This ain’t no foolin’ around. This is a dirty disco party that will not tolerate foolin’ around, just seriously focused gyrating brought on by host Mr. YT entertainment. True to the spirit of hip parties, this party don’t start til’ later on. Participate in a new tradition that is bound to entertain. Disco balls not required, but always appropriate. $5. 11 p.m.

Wrath of a Dying Breed

Saturday at Grant’s Lounge

There’s not enough room in the headline to list all of the bands for this event. Just know this: Seven bands that like to get loud and rowdy will be gracing the stage at Grant’s Lounge to celebrate the release of Wrath of a Dying Breed’s album. Instead of charging admission, the bands are asking for donations for local charities. If you like loud music and giving back to your community, this is the place to be on Saturday. Bring two canned goods for admission. All proceeds go to local charities, including the Middle Georgia Food Bank. There will also be a pregame barbecue at Seven on Second Street where fans can meet the bands and buy some merch before the show. 6 p.m.

Georgia Hardcore Showcase

Saturday at Fresh Produce Records

Boom. Crash. Growl. Repeat. If that is your basic definition of hardcore music, then you have never been to a real hardcore show. Support your local hardcore movement by witnessing at least five bands from around the Peach State, doing what they do best — making music that makes people move. 6 p.m.

Swain and the Highway Souls with Ava Davis

Saturday at the Hummingbird Stage and Taproom

Swain and the Highway Souls hail from just up the road a piece (a small piece) in Forsyth. Since forming in 2014, this group proudly declares that they bring “a fresh sound to Middle Georgia that is steeped in the area’s musical tradition,” citing “blues, rock, soul, funk and R&B” influences. If any of those things interest you, get off the couch and check out their set, which will undoubtedly showcase a blend of covers and originals. Nashville singer/songwriter Ava Davis opens. $5. 10:30 p.m.
