Otis Music Camp Final Performance

FRIDAY AT WILLINGHAM CHAPEL, MERCER UNIVERSITY

The Otis Music Camp has got to be one of the coolest camps in the Peach State. Campers between the ages of 12 to 17 spend 10 days doing everything from covering the fundamentals of songwriting and performing to participating in Q&A sessions with leading members of the music industry. The final performance is a culmination of all of their hard work and it never disappoints. 6 p.m. Free.

Tinsley Ellis with Caroline Aiken

FRIDAY AT THE COX CAPITOL THEATRE

Atlanta Magazine calls Tinsley Ellis “the most significant blues artist to emerge from Atlanta since Blind Willie McTell.” Dang, that’s some high praise. They must’ve never heard of the Ambassador of Mirth, Bicycle Bob. Ellis plays blues the way Macon favorites with names like Allman, Haynes and Trucks do: electric and loud. He’s a guitar player’s guitar player, the kind of musician who you need to see live to really understand. Doors: 7 p.m./Show: 8 p.m. $18-$22.

Some Kind of Nightmare with Taped Fist, the Riggs and Above Repute

FRIDAY AT FRESH PRODUCE RECORDS

With a name like Some Kind of Nightmare, you probably figured out this ain’t a folk group. This punk trio hails from San Diego and they are fast, furious and road weary. Leave your deodorant at the house and prepare for an all night punk rock rager that might make Glenn Danzig break up the Misfits again to become a judge on “The Voice.” #PunxNotDead. 9 p.m. $5.

StoneRider

FRIDAY AT THE HUMMINGBIRD STAGE AND TAPROOM

Atlanta’s StoneRider has a sound that vacillates from lava lamp psychedelia on tracks like “Hologram,” to foot-stomping rock ‘n’ roll sing-alongs like “Trigger Happy.” Any way you shake it, you’ll probably dig this if you dig classically reckless rock ‘n’ roll that begs to be played in a ‘70s muscle car with the windows rolled down. They haven’t been down this way in a while, so if you dig any of the aforementioned sounds, go ahead and mark your calendar. 10:30 p.m. $5.

Robert Lee Coleman and the Night Owls

FRIDAY AT BEARFOOT TAVERN

Walking up to Bearfoot Tavern, you’re likely to hear poppy, vaguely Irish-sounding punk rock music — the kind of stuff that happens when you let Pandora go on the Dropkick Murphys station for too long — emanating from the restaurant’s outside speakers. Inside, there’s a battle between sports bar and classic pub decor. Outside, the beer garden is like a cross between a fancy garden party and a classy wedding. On Friday, there’s a band fronted by a Macon living legend playing classic R&B and soul. Talk about a melting pot! Grab a friend, grab a drink and enjoy the experience. 9 p.m. Free.
