Gig Guide
Savvy with The Story Continues
FRIDAY AT SEVEN ON SECOND STREET
Savvy is a self-described “ThunderDrum/Destroyerbass Duo” from right here in Macon that lists everything from the Beatles to Queens of the Stone Age to Death From Above 1979 as influences. Could they be Macon’s answer to Lightning Bolt? One can only hope so. Local punk rockers The Story Continues continue their sonic barrage on Macon and open the show. Tell Mr. Garou that you saw this in the Gig Guide you’ll get free admission. All ages. 8 p.m. Free.
Sister Sandoz
FRIDAY AT MAIN STREET PIZZA
If the list of bands on Sister Sandoz’s Facebook page is any indication, their taste is as eclectic as it is loud. Word on the street is their lead singer, Becky, also studied opera for a bit, which only adds to the mystique of this metal band with a punk rock problem. Eat some pizza and get rowdy with Sister Sandoz’s mix of covers and original tunes. All ages. 7 p.m. Free.
Rumours — A Fleetwood Mac Tribute
FRIDAY AT THE COX CAPITOL THEATRE
Wait a minute, baby, there’s a Fleetwood Mac cover band playing in town? One that “captures the energy of Fleetwood Mac at the height of their career by blending perfect harmonies, precise instrumentation, and a visually engaging stage show?” Don’t stop believing, because there is! Rumours, based out of Atlanta, never broke that chain. They’re coming to town to make loving fun again. You can go your own way Friday night, as long as that way is down to the Capitol to experience a world where Lindsey and Stevie still love each other. Magic! Doors 7 p.m. Show: 8 p.m. $12-$200.
June Jamboree 11th Anniversary Celebration
SATURDAY AT THE HUMMINGBIRD STAGE AND TAPROOM
Time, it would appear, certainly does fly, but we can at least have a good time as it passes us by. Eleven years ago, the Hummingbird Stage and Taproom opened its doors, and this Saturday is all about commemorating this occasion with six bands: The Matt Brantley Band, African Americana, Tyler Porch Band, Analog Existence, Mopeland and Driven Towards Chaos. Food from Outlaw Bar-B-Q, a dunking booth, AND adult snow cones will also be present. There’s also talk of prize giveaways. One thing is for sure: There will be plenty of opportunities for celebration. 8 p.m.
Slenderman, Cleebo and Deeze
SUNDAY AT FRESH PRODUCE RECORDS
Slenderman makes music that sounds as if it was created by and for dying electronics, devices that have long outlived their intended use but have found a new life as a tool for auditory experimentation. Cleebo and Deeze appear to be a noisy side project of Cody Kurth and Willie D. (of Cult of Riggonia fame), but attempts to confirm this have been inconclusive. What has been confirmed is that this show will be a gloriously noisy exploration of sound. 9 p.m. $3.
